The Scag power Equipment has come up with a lineup of zero turn mowers since 2014. And Scag tiger cat 2 is one of the premium commercial-grade zero turn riding mowers. It has come with maximum comfort, productivity, and performance.
However, that doesn’t mean that it is 100% perfect. Besides the durability, great engine capacity, and other benefits, you should know the other side of the story too.
Here are 6 most common problems you may face with scag tiger cat 2:
6 Most Common Scag Tiger Cat 2 Mower Problems:
1.Cutting Speed Issue
For several reasons, the cutting speed of tiger cat 2 may get slower. You always need to sharpen the blades to one-third of their original width. The sharp blade reduces the wear on the engine and increases the speed.
Use a file to sharpen the blade instead of a wheel grinder to avoid the burning of the blades.
Go for the right blade type to enhance the machine’s speed and efficiency. Try to avoid wet grasses for better cut consistency.
To add to that, you can call a scag-endorsed professional or authorized scag dealer in your area to solve the bent spindle or wrongly mounted deck.
2.Fuel line Issue
Some customers have encountered some fuel line issues. The fuel switching valve is on the right side of the machine. So, if you want to supply fuel from the tank on the right side, you need to rotate the valve clockwise.
But after starting the mower, the user found out that the mower shut off when he threw out the valve to the right side tank.
However, after the analysis of the issue, the user realized that the left side line is put to the ride side of the valve.
3.Hydro Belt Issue
If you check out some videos on YouTube about Tiger cat 2, you will see that some users are willing to go for tiger cat 1 instead of tiger cat 2 for the recurrent breakage of the hydro belt.
Since the sizes of the pumps have been increased on the TC2 but the wheel motors are not raised to that ratio. That’s why it is putting an excessive load on the belt.
The warranty of scag is not transferable. This can be a big issue for the customers because the customers have to deal with huge repairing costs.
However, there are many other brands as well that don’t have transferable warranties.
5.Center of Gravity Issue
If you have a scag ZTR, you will encounter that its center of gravity is somewhat lower than that of other brands. So, getting on and of the machine is critical than others.
Scag needs to improve its seating arrangement. The seat is quite far back and low. Again, you can compensate for the problem by moving the seat forward to mount and dismount.
The tiger cat 2 is not turning on is one of the common problems. For the starter, you may not be following the steps of starting. You need to disengage power to the cutter deck, put the steering control levers in the neutral position and go in for the parking brake.
If the oil level is low, the machine refuses to start. So, take a stick and check the fuel level. You may also need to change the spark plug as it may have worn out due to age.
If the air gap between the magnetic coil and the flywheel doesn’t fall between 0.010 and 0.015 of an inch, the engine won’t ignite. You may need to apply pressure or loosen the magnetic coil of the engine to adjust the gap.
Occurrence in 2012: Scag tiger cat 2 comes with Kawasaki motor. Kawasaki recalled around 210,000 for the repairing of the fuel filter leak.
What Do the Customers Say?
Lots of users say that they are using Scag tiger cat 2 for years without having such issues. Compared to Kawasaki, or John Deere, it has more speed and quick performance.
When it comes to solving those issues I have stated above, one should contact their dealer. They are very helpful, and Scag makes sure that you get the servicing within the warranty period.
The scag tiger cat 2 is capable of handling more than 24acres per day. This commercial machine is pricey, but it worth the money.
However, the operation, maintenance, and adjustment of the device influence its longevity. If you are cautious about the problems and their solution, this machine can serve you for years.
