1. Poor Start

If you want quick fixes, you can try having the clutch pedal down and the shift levers in the neutral position. In addition to that, check for blown fuses. Usually, the fuses 5 or 6 are more prone to blowing.

A blown fuse cuts off the solenoids. Other than that the solenoids can get damaged due to other reasons. Corroded and dirty connections, bad relay switch being a few reasons why the tractor will not start.

For a more accurate fix, here’s what to do : The neutral start switch and the instrument cluster are connected by two short cables with connections. One of the wires may have an infinite resistance (can be found in testing).

2. PTO Not Disengaging

PTO does not disengage and runs all the time. With this cab, it is pretty frequent. And a very complicated thing to fix.

The PTO clutch rubs and gets corroded. This makes it run all the time.

To address this issue, people may suggest you to check PTO pressure. But it is not always accurate. To replace the clutch or check it, you will need to remove the cab entirely.

The clutch needs to be split. And to split it, you’ll need to access the area behind the clutch housing, which requires removing the cab.

3. Sticky Brakes

The John Deere 2355 could experience stuck brakes. Neither wheel will spin when the tractor’s rear is raised as if it were in gear. There appears to be no reaction when you use the parking brake.

When the tractors get warmer, the steering and brakes both may dysfunction.

The Fix:

This tractor has no power brakes, so the pressure you put on it is all you get. The equalizer valve, piston check valve, and wheel piston o-ring all have the potential to leak.

You can test for wheel packing leakage by plugging the line and looking for a hard pedal. If you find one, the wheel packing is bad. If you don’t, its probably the equalizer valve.

4. Clutch Issues

This problem mainly concerns shifting issues. When the clutch is still disengaged, the tractor creeps forward and occasionally has difficulty shifting gears. The shifter may also be difficult to change into gear without a grinding sound.

Bleed the clutch master or the slave cylinders of the clutch. Check the free travel adjustment of the clutch pedal as well. Assuming the clutch is engaged and the sticks are in netural, begin by simultaneously engaging the clutch and the sticks.

5. Hydraulic Problems

The typical symptom is the loader dying out or stopping. The 3-pt hitch and hydraulics also seem to have no activity. You might notice the steering still being fine.

Sometimes, the PTO too goes out with the power link and the power steering.

The Fix:

You could attempt to destroke the hydraulics. The steering will be the last to go since the priority valve will keep it operating until the end.

In addition, inspect filters and draw the strainer on the rear end if the brakes are breaking down because this will clog the strainer and limit flow. You can also check for damage of the stroke control valve.

The bolts could have backed out or the rubber coupler between the front pulley and the pump could have ruptured. Check them and do the necessary troubleshooting.

6. Loader and Hitch Vibrating

Sometimes the loader and lift both trembles, even when the loader is under less pressure than a threshold. For example, when raising the loader and the lift, both begin to come down.

Along with the shuddering, the hydraulic oil level may run correctly. However, you may still notice some oil spillages under the loader valve. This indicates leakage.

The Fix:

This is a pretty common issue. It mostly occurs due to lack of hydraulic oil. If you have filled up hydraulic oil recently, it may occur due to leakages somewhere.
